YUCAIPA, CA – Yucaipa’s new Farmer Boys restaurant moved one step closer to reality Monday with a groundbreaking ceremony at 13th & Yucaipa, site of the new business. The ceremony was attended by members of the Chamber of Commerce, by officials from Farmer Boys’ corporate headquarters in Riverside, and by representatives from various building and design contractors associated with the project. The restaurant is scheduled to open for business in late September.
Phil Johnson, franchisee for this new location, has close ties to the area, having attended junior high and high school here. He graduated from Yucaipa High School in 1983. This will be his second Farmer Boys restaurant; he is also the franchisee for the location in Bloomington.
“I love Yucaipa. It is a close-knit community that really watches out for itself,” Johnson says. “There is a lot of growth in the area and I believe a quality restaurant like Farmer Boys will be well-received by local residents.”
Johnson says he intends to quickly become involved in the community by supporting local sports and other neighborhood activities. To demonstrate his commitment, he has already joined the local Chamber of Commerce.
Demetris Havadjias is president of Farmer Boys, Inc., franchisor and operator of 28 Farmer Boys restaurants, most of which are in the Inland Empire. “We are pleased to bring Farmer Boys to Yucaipa,” Havadjias says. “Many area residents are already familiar with Farmer Boys because they have been customers at other locations. The new restaurant will be one that the people of Yucaipa can call their own.” Indeed, this latest project is further evidence of the extraordinary growth Farmer Boys has enjoyed over the past two years. The Riverside-based chain has nearly doubled its number of locations in that time with even greater growth planned in the next few months. Ten additional stores are either currently or soon will be under construction.
The first Farmer Boys restaurant opened in 1981 and the company began offering franchises in 1997. The restaurants offer fresh food fast with a diverse menu of over 80 breakfast, lunch and dinner items. All items are made-to-order and are served directly to the table in 5-7 minutes. Popular menu offerings include award-winning burgers, gourmet salads, freshly-prepared sandwiches, and signature side items including monster-sized onion rings and deep-fried zucchini. Made-to-order breakfasts include 3-egg omelets, French toast, pancakes, and breakfast burritos. For further information on Farmer Boys restaurants, visit their website at www.farmberboys.com.
