LOMA LINDA, CA – Farmer Boys Restaurants annual fundraising event to benefit Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital has netted more than $30,000 for the hospital. The event culminated earlier this week with a check presentation ceremony at the hospital.

The funds were raised by selling farm-themed calendars at each Farmer Boys restaurant in Southern California. This was easily the restaurant chain’s most successful fundraising event ever for the Children’s Hospital, more than doubling last year’s contribution of $15,000, according to Don Tucker, Farmer Boys’ Director of Franchising.

“There are a number of reasons for the record success of the program this year,” Tucker says. “In part, we are very grateful to the guests in our restaurants who responded very well to the calendars. They felt like they were receiving something of value while making a donation to a great cause.”

“Another important factor, however,” he adds, “is the tremendous growth we have seen in our number of restaurants in the past twelve months. We had twenty-four units open for last year’s fundraiser versus thirty-three this year.” Indeed, Farmer Boys’ growth continues as three additional restaurants have opened since the end of December. Openings in Victorville, Covina, and, just this past Monday in Santa Fe Springs bring the total number of Farmer Boys restaurants to thirty-six. Number thirty-seven will open in 2-3 weeks in Tustin.

“As we continue to grow,” Tucker says, “we expect that our contribution to Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital will also continue to grow for many years to come.”
